World Bank Climate Resilience in Northern Uganda

Overview

An active research programme assessing household-level climate vulnerability and testing the effectiveness of bundled climate adaptation interventions including weather-indexed insurance, drought-tolerant seed varieties, and farmer field schools.

Research Objectives

  • Evaluate smallholder farmer adoption of climate-smart practices and measure resilience outcomes

  • Identify key barriers and enabling factors affecting programme uptake and long-term sustainability

  • Generate actionable policy recommendations for government and development partners at national and regional level

Methodology

This project used rigorous mixed-methods research approaches including household surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and quantitative data analysis. Data collection followed internationally recognised protocols with multiple rounds of quality assurance and enumerator supervision.

Key Findings

Findings from this project have been used to inform policy decisions at national and regional level. The evidence has been shared with government ministries, development partners, and implementing organisations through policy briefs and stakeholder workshops.
